Description
Tandoori Chaap is a flavorful and aromatic vegetarian dish featuring marinated soy chaap, which is a meat substitute made from soy. This dish is inspired by traditional tandoori cooking, where marinated ingredients are cooked in a tandoor (a clay oven) or a grill, resulting in a smoky flavor and tender texture. Tandoori Chaap is typically marinated in a blend of yogurt and spices, giving it a rich and vibrant taste. It is perfect as a starter or main course, served with naan, roti, or rice, and complemented by mint chutney.
Preparation:
- Marinate the Chaap:
- In a mixing bowl, combine thick yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, kasuri methi (if using), salt, and oil. Mix well to create a smooth marinade.
- Add the soy chaap pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours (or overnight for the best flavor).
- Grill the Chaap:
- Preheat the grill or tandoor. If using an oven, preheat it to 200°C (392°F).
- Skewer the marinated chaap pieces on grilling sticks or place them on a greased baking tray. Brush with oil.
- Grill for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and slightly charred.
